PET-Xi Alternative Provision (AP)

At PET-Xi, we believe every young person deserves the opportunity to succeed—regardless of the challenges they face. Our Alternative Provision (AP) services are designed to re-engage learners aged 14–24 who may not thrive in mainstream education, offering them a structured, supportive, and inspiring environment where they can flourish.

🌱 A Holistic Approach to Education

Our AP programmes are built around the individual. We focus on academic achievement, personal development, and real-world readiness, ensuring that every learner leaves us with the skills and confidence to take their next steps.

We support young people who:

  • Are at risk of exclusion
  • Have been permanently excluded
  • Are emotionally based school avoiders
  • Have SEND or SEMH needs
  • Are care leavers or in transition
  • Need a more flexible, therapeutic learning environment

We deliver a broad and balanced curriculum that includes:

  • Core subjects: English, Maths, Science
  • Vocational pathways: Digital skills, hospitality, construction, and more
  • Functional Skills and GCSEs where appropriate

🏠 New: Simulated Studio Flat at Westwood Site, Coventry

Our fully equipped 20-foot-square studio apartment is a game-changer in life skills education. This immersive space allows young people to experience independent living in a safe, structured environment.

They will learn how to:

  • ✅ Budget for bills, food, and rent
  • ✅ Plan meals, cook, and shop smart
  • ✅ Manage energy, water, and Wi-Fi usage
  • ✅ Be good neighbours and host on a budget
  • ✅ Clean, cook, and stay organised
  • ✅ Make financial choices and face real-life consequences (like “no Wi-Fi” if they overspend!)

This experience is ideal for:

  • Alternative Provision learners
  • Care leavers
  • School groups
  • Young people preparing for university or independent living

Workshops and school visits are now open for booking.

🧘 Sensory Room – A Space to Reset

Our sensory room is a calming, multi-sensory environment designed to support learners with anxiety, sensory processing needs, or emotional regulation challenges. With soft lighting, tactile materials, and soothing sounds, it provides a safe retreat that helps students reset and re-engage with learning.

🎯 Outcomes That Matter

We are proud of the positive impact our AP services have on learners:

  • Improved attendance and engagement
  • Reduction in behavioural incidents
  • Increased confidence and self-esteem
  • Progression to further education, training, or employment
  • Successful reintegration into mainstream education where appropriate

🤝 Partner With Us

We work closely with:

  • Local authorities
  • Schools and academies
  • Parents and carers
  • Social services and youth organisations

We are proud to be part of the Coventry, Oxfordshire, and Staffordshire Alternative Provision frameworks, and are an approved provider for Warwickshire County Council.

Together, we create a wraparound support system that empowers young people to succeed.
