McCulloch Rail specialises in rail handling and rail logistics, providing a highly successful range of services on the UK’s railway infrastructure.
The company needed a training provider to deliver a Rail Engineering Technician Level 3 course to apprentices, but found that several large providers could not deliver a flexible course which met its needs.
PET-Xi created a bespoke delivery model which sees learners spend three weeks in the classroom before working for three weeks to put their new skills into practice.
The intensive course spans 24 months, rather than the standard 36 months, which means that learners are able to qualify more quickly.
PET-Xi delivers a mixture of classroom and practical training at McCulloch Rail’s training sites in Doncaster and Toddington, covering subjects including personal track safety, track rail transposer training, DC Conductor Rails (DCCR) training and hand trolley controller training.
The team also deliver Level 2 maths and English qualifications where required. PET-Xi has been working with McCulloch Rail for more than two years and has recently seen the very first learners who enrolled on the course qualify.
